Tuition: $1200 USD

    • PDF scores of two (2) original compositions with different instrumentations. If the applicant wishes that one of these two works be rehearsed and performed at the summit, it should be playable by one of the available instrumentations and have a duration of a maximum of eight (8) minutes..
    • A biography and/or a CV in PDF format.
  3. Voluntarily and with no obligation, for the purpose of enhancing academic profiles and admission opportunities, applicants may submit the following:
    • A maximum of two (2) letters of recommendation in PDF format. These may be sent by the signing parties or through an authentication system (i.e., Interfolio)
    • A maximum of two (2) copies of any type scholarly paper, article or dissertation in any area of musical academic study in PDF format.
  4. These documents and/or links for downloading them must be submitted by email to alumni@sonamens.com The application deadline is March 21, 2019 at 5:00pm (17:00 hours), Puerto Rico time zone (GMT-4).
  5. Only previously requested and approved cases, applications will be accepted for up to 30 days past de application deadline, with an application fee of $75 USD.
  6. Applicants may be admitted at anytime while applications are accepted to up to fifteen (15) days past the the application deadline. If offer has been filled before the application deadline, an announcement will be rigorously released.
  7. The enclosed compositions have no more requirements than the difference of instrumentation between the two. These works may or may not be submitted for their rehearsal and performance at the summit. The applicant’s preferences of instrumentation for the submission of these works may be detailed in the application form.
  8. Audio and/or video recordings are NOT required and applications with audio and/or video digital files in the application email will NOT be accepted. Nevertheless, download links to audio and/or video files and links to stream audio and/or video are accepted.
  9. Instrumental groups and soloists will be assigned in order of submissions that have been provisionally admitted.

Admission

  1. Criteria for admission is based on non-competing aptitude. Applicants that are considered fit for admission may be admitted provisionally any time applications are being accepted.
  2. Applicants that confirm their admission will automatically begin the selection process for available instrumentations for the work to be performed in concert during the summit.
  3. Provisionally admitted applicants will receive due communication and will have to confirm their admission with payment of a minimum of $300 USD before fifteen (15) after the application deadline. The remaining amount of the tuition fee must be paid before June 12, 2019.
  4. Scores and parts of compositions meant for their rehearsal and performance during the summit, as well as for the compositions to be presented at Master Classes, must be submitted by email before May 24, 2019.

Participation

    Confirmed Active Enrollment students are entitled to the following:
  1. A minimum of forty (40) hours among Master Classes and lectures by all guest composers, and debate panels.
  2. Presentation of a minimum of two (2) compositions in Master Class sessions with two (2) different professors. The student will present his/her work and the professor will comment or exchange with the student. The duration of each presentation and exchange is approximately thirty (30) minutes. Scores in PDF format and audio and/or video files for these works must be submitted before May 24, 2019.
  3. Performance of a composition of a maximum duration of eight (8) minutes by one of the guest soloists or ensembles in one of our eight (8) concerts.
  4. A minimum of one (1) hour rehearsal-workshop with the soloist or group that will perform the composition. This rehearsal-workshop will take place before the concert the composition will be performed at.
  5. Reserved access to all concerts and evening gatherings.

  4. B3:Brouwer Trio: 1 violin, 1 violoncello, 1 piano
  5. Alberto Rodríguez Ortiz: solo guitar
  6. Álea 21: 2 female voices, 1 flute, 1 violoncello, 1 double bass, 1 piano, 2 percussionists

Admission

  1. Criteria for admission is based on non-competing aptitude. The following lists determines the preference order for applicants’ concentrations:
    • Music Composition.
    • Musicology and Music Theory.
    • Music Performance.
    • Musical Industries and Management.
    • Other artistic disciplines.
  2. Provisionally admitted applicants will receive due communication and must confirm their admission with payment of a minimum of $180 before fifteen (15) days after provisional admission. The remaining amount of the tuition fee must be payed before June 12, 2019.
  3. Admission for part-time audit enrollment depends upon the enrollment offer covered for full-time active and audit applicants.
  4. There is an assured number of vacancies for Attending Enrollment. Nevertheless, the Toal number of admissions relies on the covered vacancy in Active Enrollment.

Admission

  1. Although no there are no requirements for admission, preference will be given to students, graduates and/or teachers in areas of musical composition, music theory, musicology, music performance, musical and art industries, art history and other artistic disciplines. Applicants found fit for admission may be admitted at any time while applications are accepted.
  2. Provisionally admitted applicants will receive due communication and must confirm their admission with payment of a minimum of 40% of tuition fee before fifteen (15) days after provisional admission, but always before June 1, 2019.
  3. Admission for part-time audit enrollment depends upon the enrollment offer covered for full-time active and audit applicants.


PROGRAM

Master Classes

Maestros Leo Brouwer, Alfonso Fuentes, Roberto Sierra y Mauricio Sotelo will impart e minimum of four (4) two-hour composition Master Classes.
Maestra Tania León will impart a minimum of three (3) composition Master Class two-hour sessions.
Maestro Brouwer will also impart a two-hour guitar Master Class.

Lectures

Alfonso Fuentes, Tania León, Roberto Sierra y Mauricio Sotelo will each impart one (1) lecture about their own music in relation to the summit’s central theme.

Concerts:

• Orfeón San Juan Bautista: one (1) concert.
• Borinquen Brass: one (1) concert.
• Sinfonietta del Sur: two (2) concerts.
• B3:Brouwer Trio: two (2) concerts.
• Alberto Rodríguez Ortiz: one (1) concert.
• Alea 21: one (1) conference-concert.

Workshop-essays

Active Enrollment students will attend one (1) hour of rehearsal workshop with their assigned soloist or group.

Events free of charge

The following events do not charge entrance fee:
1. Between one (1) and (two) lectures by scholars and/or composers from the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and other Puerto Rican institutions.
2. Between three (3) and (4) debate panels and/or talks with guest composers, scholars and/or composers from the Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music and other Puerto Rican institutions.
Active and Attending Enrollment students will have reserved seating at these events.
Reservations for the remaining seating may be made in advance.

We offer a special rate for the Courtyard San Juan Miramar and the Olimpo Court Hotel, which are at walking distance from de Puerto Rico Conservatory of Music.
The following listed prices are for each night with breakfast for a single room and the total price per person for 13 nights at shared rooms.
Availability for shared rooms is subject to the number of enrolled students and each applicant will be attended in order of confirmed enrollment.
If an alternative accommodation option not managed by us is preferred, we will offer all the help possible for an easy management.
